I also get excited after all these years of roll searching , look at it this way you just found a coin in circulation that is 63 years old.

It does feel really good to find old/unusual things in ordinary pocket change. When you lose that feeling is when you have to worry, I think.

Hard to find wheat cents nowadays.

Almost have of my wheat collection are warn common dates. And almost all of them were found in circulation by my father. He got like 3 in his change at a gas station and ask the guy if he had more. The guy let him buy out all his wheats, a whole sandwich bag full.

I'm guessing someone bought a mixed lot and spent them because they're practically worthless. I'm pretty sure almost all wheats in circulation are donated by collectors who re-release them into the wild.

Or stolen from someones collection and just cashed in..... It happens. The thief don't want to get caught with his dishonest gains and just spends it. The worst nightmare of any collection: When they die someone dumps their collection into a Coin Star.... SCARRY!
