are rimless 2000 pennies common? This penny practically looks like a slug with Abe worrying about sliding off the south side.

Did you get an answer or figure it out on your own? I do that all the time. On the cent note, one thing I find all the time are pennies that are off-center by a bit. I give them to my nephews and they really seem to like them because they are noticeably odd. My hope is that someday they will take up the hobby, maybe even join this forum!

Admittedly lame question about a coin that is as regular as yr 2000 coins come not worth photoing and posting. I just finished going through about 30,000 pennies...aargh. Sorry, again, for the hasty question. Jim

Don't ever apologize for asking a question here. What may seem like a "lame" question to you could solicit an answer that will help someone else. Our motto here is that the only dumb questions are those that don't get asked. We all truly believe that.

If you would still like an answer to your question, please do post a pic of the coin in question. There are some legitimate reasons why this could happen and also it could be post-mint altering. I recently received a bunch of coins that had been perfectly cut to remove the rim and at first glance appeared to be struck on the wrong planchets. Closer inspection showed that it was post-mint alteration.

Ditto to above comment on any question.
My reply earlier was misinterpeted and
the lame question remark was about "me" and
the fact that I could not find the pic. file
to open to view the coin in mention.
I thought maybe I was not seeing something that was there.
I wanted to respond to the question.
Sorry for any misunderstanding. No question
whatsoever is "lame" or dumb or stupid period...
That's how I learned, by asking any questions I could.
Thank You
