Is it or is it not true? Well, the bill passed the House and the Senate and is waiting for the President to sign into law. Regarding the State Quarters - We have 6 more coins to add in 2009: Quote: Section 622 adds an 11th year in 2009 to the 50-state quarter program and six more coins: Washington, D.C., and five insular territories: American Samoa, Guam, American Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. Most have been American possessions for over a century. Do we still have "edge lettering" on the Presidential dollars, since they only require the phrase "In God We Trust" to move to the face?Quote:Section 623 would require that the new Presidential dollar coin program remove the national motto, "In God We Trust," from the edge of the coin and restore it to the obverse, where it appears on all other coin issues. The change would be required "as soon as is practicable after the date of enactment. And here's the link to the whole article: http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...ticleId=3547What will the future hold for those "Godless" coins error? Will there be a "market" for those Coins with edge letter?

I want to say not true, but who knows. I believe that actual States should be in the State Quarters program.

I posted this this morning in this thread. https://goccf.com/t/22918Its true but Ganz has it a bit wrong. Section 622 is from H.R. 392: District of Columbia and United States Territories Circulating Quarter Dollar Program Act. They were very careful not to make it an extention of the State Quarter program because they knew it wrankled people the wrong way.

As for a market for edge lettered dollars. The way the section is worded, only IN GOD WE TRUST is being moved. Future coins will still have The date, MM and E PLURIBUS UNUM on the edge as mandated in the origional law.

It'll be nice to have some variety, so I'm glad that they're going to move it.

Is moving the motto from the edge to the obverse/reverse, going to take affect with the Monroe dollar?

Personally I have no problem with the territory's or protectorate's having their own quarter. These are American possessions and citizens. It wasnt that long ago Alaska and Hawaii were territory's.Lets not relegate them to second class status. If you get the chance google Alaska statehood commission. It may surprise you. Jeff

For the most part American's don't know anything about America as it is. If there were a Puerto Rico coin I'm sure the majority of people would call the US Mint and complain that there's no spot in their State Quarter book for it

I don't like the idea of the U.S. Territories or the District of Columbia being added to the States Quarters Program very much at all. I think there should be a $1 silver commemorative coin for each territory. For the District of Columbia a special bullion issue to include the same weight and denominations for silver, gold and platinum bullion coins currently issued. And what the heck, the first ever 1oz, palladium, bullion, coin can even fit in there somewhere. I think it should be something special and fun for a long overdue recognition of the Territories and DC.

My Washington quarters album is full. It only goes to 1994 and I did not want to replace it. I created by own "ultra modern" album with two pages each of cents, nickels, dimes and quarters. The quarters are stuck at 1998 because I did get a Statehood Quarter album. I'll probably go ahead and throw the 2009 series in there like I originally planned. This might allow the quarters to catch with the other denominations faster!

Washington - The District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories will get their own commemorative quarter-dollars in 2009, under new legislation signed by President Bush.
