The Duke of Wellington was celebrated as Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports at a lavish banquet at Dover Castle in 1839. The event was commemorated by British Historical Medal #1889. The reverse depiction of Dover castle with its elaborate fortifications earned the medal a place in Taylor's The Architectural Medal-England in the Nineteenth Century

I was wondering what the Duke of Wellington was. I have a bunch of old 1800s postcards, many addressed to or from the "duke of wellington". Ill have to dig out the box of them and see if they have any relevance.

The Duke's famous victory at the battle of Waterloo was 200 years ago this month. June 18th to be excact. If you wish to sell Wellingtonia, there will be no better oportunity in our lifetimes.
