It is an overall look where the portrait is frosted in appearance and the fields are dark, mirror like. Many newer proof coins exhibit this characteristic. Older coins are more rare to find in "Cameo" appearance. Report this Post to the Staff

Finn235 Pillar of the Community United States 6130 Posts	Posted 06/01/2015 2:55 pm What you are seeing on the dots appears to be small die cracks or chips. Pretty common as the die nears the end of its life, and don't really add to the value. Report this Post to the Staff

Look at all the PL and DMPL morgans. Those are not proof, they are circulation strikes that are proof like. Report this Post to the Staff

smokeriderdon Pillar of the Community United States 3755 Posts	Posted 06/02/2015 5:24 pm Silver, those are proof LIKE designations, not cameo. PL, and DMPL. The designation of CAMEO is the issue. And that is a designation for proof coins. Can one say that DMPL Morgan has a cameo look to it? Sure. But it is still a designation meant for proof coins.
