Roll searching in 1961 when I was 15 years old...a 1909SVDB Lincoln
in G condition, followed a few days later by a 1909S in G-VG condition.

Excellent find Firecom911!! I wish I could find one. I found a 1931-s au recently? Have you held on to your key dates or sold them?

I found a German 1 Ducat 1/10 oz gold coin in the bottom of a bag of 700 cents. Even better part was I bought the bag for around $3.00 and sold it for $37 and kept the $70 coin!

Best? I'd have to think about it... but maybe the fondest was the first time I got a silver dime in change. It was 1981, I was in 6th grade, and I got a 1964 dime in change for my milk in the lunch room (I always had a bag lunch, but bought milk at school).

Well I didnt exactly find them
but I bought them about 30 years ago, cheap.
Not knowing that they were overdates.
An 1827 half dollar that I "found"out was a 1827/6
an 1820 large cent that I "found"out was a 1820/19
an 1818 quarter that I "found"out was a 1818/5.
These were found after learning, buying books and joining coin community.
Thanks Guys

Great memory jbuck!

I get that from my family a lot! I am always pulling the "remember when..." on them during family events.

I remember it because I was still in the blue-folder days of my collecting. My dime and quarter folders were both 1965-. I never thought I would find a silver coin (I was sure they had to be all gone by then!) and I had no means to buy pricey silver coins back then! Anyway, I fretted for a long time on what to do with it. It stayed in a 2x2 until I finally moved to albums that had all dates, not just clad. It is still the 1964 dime in my album!

Mine would have to be the coin discussed in this old thread - a World War I era Polish Regency iron fenig that I bought from a dealer for a few dollars. I had it for years, not thinking it was anything special, until I asked about it here on the forums. Turns out it's a super-scarce type, because the mint in Germany where these were made caught fire while they were making them, and the only ones left were scraped out of the ashes.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
