Sweet, congrats, I know the pain of searching for a certain cherrypick coin for decades. Mine was the 1864 clashed on Reverse with the IHC. I have found 6 of these 1867 DDO's the past 2 years, mostly on ebay or at coin shows. All in lower grade however, which they are not too uncommon, it's the EF's and better where they really get hard to find cherrypicked or not.

Thanks for the acknowledgement, guys. It wasn't a painful search by any means, and who knows, I may yet find another. Most of the fun is in the hunt. Given how long it took me to spot one and how very few of these I've seen at shows, I have to guess that the population is less than say the 1864sm or the 1872?
What say you, Westcoin?

Out of curiosity, I did a sample population count on ebay .... 1864 sm Two Cent Pieces = 80 coins counted 1872 ................... = 59 " " 1867 DDO .............. = 21 " "

I think exoguy's sample is about right on, at least until you get to coins in high grade condition.

So, the 1867 DDO is four times rarer than the 1864 small motto and three times rarer than the 1872 Two Cent Pieces, then. That explains why it took me so long to locate one. Cost me $14, it did. I read in Breen's "Encyclopedia" that he discovered this variety in 1953. While he lists a number of other Two Cent varieties, this one is the starkest error of the lot, methinks.

Can you ID a 1867 DDO 2 cent with the motto being completely worn away?
