I came across this article from 2010 about the Ike dollar. A good read for newbs to the series and as a "where we were in 2010" read for the experianced. I'm sure some minor stuff like TPG figures has changed in the last 5yrs...

A very good article! I really like the reverse of these dollars a lot.

I think this article would compliment the original post.

Reading the article again, I was curious about the $10 Brown Ike issue price. That is about $59 it today dollars. So, for a little more than the price of a Presidential C&C set (with one ounce of silver) you got one 40% Eisenhower dollar (less than one-third ounce of silver). Interesting to consider. They were right to complain.

Hmmm I was thinking about that same thing jbuck. What the purchasing power of the $10 compared to today. That's nuts to think about

Thankfully Google helped me figure it out.

I remember really, really wanting to buy the 40% Eisenhower dollars in my early collecting days (1980's). You know, when the 1973-S 40% proof was well north of $100. I am glad I could not afford them then. Patience paid off as they were pretty darn cheap by the time I had a real job in the 1990's.

Thanks for posting this article, Cascade. A good read. I'm printing it out for my coin scrap book.
