Sucks doesn't it? But this is COIN COMMUNITY FORUM not ebay Counterfeit Police. So Bobby has given up and the whiners and <redacted> have ruined what was the only even marginally effective way to get action. Hope you are all happy.

Yeah, well we can't save all of the un-educated people out there. Try solving world hunger or defeating ISIS, it might be easier.

Anybody that is stupid enough to not do due diligence BEFORE plunking down money for coins on ebay, or wherever, deserves exactly what they receive. Yeah, that's a cold statement but we cannot be the Internet coin police department. This is ebay's problem and if they want to fix it, fine. If they don't wanna fix it then it ends up damaging their business and reputation.

..with westernsky, you have to do your home work when purchasing ANY high value coins, and for sure, they should be graded so, one shouldn't even be looking at these. ebay don't care about coins wheather they are real or not, Bobby has worked his butt off trying to stop this garbage from being sold but, as you can see ain't happening.

The buyer and the seller have a history, so I dont think any innocent person got robbed here. There are multiple levels to the scams going on at ebay, and sometimes people get greedy and lose the mark.

Teo is right. The "buyer" looks to be a shill bidder in cahoots with the seller (possibly even the seller himself). 1) Place a coin for bid. 2) The shill waits for a bite, then outbids to drive up the price banking on another (slightly higher) nibble. 3) Rinse & repeat until a desirable sum is achieved.
They were greedy & the ball ended up in their court when the buzzer rang. Wise up folks.

I agree with the cold guy up there to an extent . We aren't babysitters . That's why I think it's good to post about the counterfeit coins but to explain them to everyone in detail. The goal is to teach people who want to learn and look for knowledge. I stress for detail in most posts . I want that knowledge. What are you seeing, why is that wrong, how do you know that? We can't always babysit you have to educate and let them grow on there own.

Kind of not our fault, as others have mentioned. As Tweak said, we aren't baby sitters. People need to be smart enough to not get scammed, especially when it comes to numismatics.

Hey its not all their fault. But it's not our job to save them either. When bobby gets one nailed do you think the coin cops go to their house and confiscate them. No, the guy still has it and will, most likely, sell it other places or even back on ebay. This is like the war on drugs. It's almost to the point of futility but I do commend you and bobby and others for trying

I'd say it is more worthwhile than the war on drugs... morally speaking I don't believe it is the governments job to decide what someone can put in their own body...in the case of soft drugs (cannabis etc) I see it as a victimless crime (the only people it is likely to harm is the user) and in the case of hard drugs it certainly will harm the user and the addiction to something like Heroin I think is more of a health/mental health issue than a criminal one (I would accept it hurts society and those around them but they are sick, they cannot help themselves and criminalising them won't stop it - if a person is prepared to literally kill themselves for that stuff then victimising them further by criminal action that is hardly likely to deter them)
Anyway that aside it is a phenomenal service that Bobby was providing, is the OP having a pop at him for missing one or generally just commiserating that someone got the wool pulled over their eyes?

Quote: I see it as a victimless crime (the only people it is likely to harm is the user) Oh my Lord. Tell that to the four kids in Indiana, who just last month, became fatherless because he was shot and killed by some punk that needed pot money to get high. Or the police officer's kids whose Daddy was killed because he pulled over a car for speeding that contained just over the possession limit. (Don't anyone dare say he signed up for that and try to blame it on the cop, that's just absurd.) That "Victimless Crime" crap is what is usually told to others by ignorant drug users. Or Mommies trying to justify their kids aren't "bad" kids. Get a grip on reality. Drugs of all kinds get people killed and hurt every single day.

Quote: is the OP having a pop at him for missing one or generally just commiserating that someone got the wool pulled over their eyes He's made it perfectly clear that he disagrees with the locking of the topics once they're reported and trying to embarrass me. I told him several times that's the way it's going to be, end of story. But he stills wants to push me. People are getting sick of seeing the same exact no-no site coins posted over and over and over and over again complete with the same piling on in every single one of the topics. It's quite dumb to leave them open. Once I report them, NO discussion in those topics will change anything. He just wants them open for his ego. Like that topic staying open would have got it taken down. Like I said in the other topic, it was MY fault.

He's young bobby, be easy on him. I think that has alot to do with it. I must say I was a little surprised about that line though but again I think it's just mostly youthful ignorance.

Fine, continue locking the threads. I'm just giving a suggestion, as a POV of a user of the website, not the POV of a administrator/creator.
Regardless, if you want to cut down on seeing these threads, just let me make one thread and post it all there.
