I came across an error/variety about 15 years ago, in pocket change, and has been driving me nuts trying to find information on what it is since. I was hoping someone could help in identifying. I recently purchased a Mustcam digital microscope and have now the best picture of this coin to date (for me). I have asked in the past but could not get a very good picture to verify. The coin is a 1976 Quarter very high grade coin, mirror to frosty like finish, except for a few small marks it looks to be in perfect condition. It looks to me as a s over inverted s, but I'm not sure. This must have been an issue at that time with the punch. (check this link) you will see that it is the same issue on a cent. (proof coins were "S" mint that year) So we probably don't see that many in circulation. Report this Post to the Staff
