Hello, came across a weird looking coin while hunting and wanted to share and find out if its just damage from wear or if its an actually error from minting.. Thank you!

It looks as if it might be Struck Through Grease.

It took a hit. Simply damage. Maybe it was hit by a coin roller.

Very nice find, not sure how a hit would obliterate the end of the date in that way, but then again, no expert here!

It took a hit. PSD. The hit displaced some of the metal and probably removed some as well. Wear over the years has disguised some of it.

Thank you for the replies! It looked weird is why I asked. As I learn and get better at recognizing errors and PSD I won't have to ask so many questions..

Ask as many questions as you need to learn, this is the place for that. It may not be the only way to learn, but probably the fastest and easiest. As you climb the Ladder of Learning (lol), if you are "inclined", you can help the person on the rung behind you.

yup after you're here for a few months you'll learn way more than you would ever think. go on youtube and look up a video of the minting process. that can give you some insight on what types of errors may or may not be possible. as said before, this looks like it was damage from a coin rolling machine.

I still ask questions all the time and I'm no slouch. Sometimes things you havnt seen come up I have one that I have never gotten an answer on before. Nobody knows what it is or how. So keep asking never feel like it bothers nyone. Thats what this section of forum is here for.
