Good afternoon,

I recently acquired this 1830 Half Dollar, in reading about these halves I found there are many varieties. Can you please provide opinions about grade I'm thinking maybe VF and also would this be an Overton 106 or something else.
Thanks in advance for your help.

VF-25? I know I won the PCGS grading contest but I am having a tough time with this one.

"Small 0" O-106 (star points to farthest back of curl, the weak C in 50C..., and first A in AMERICA filled.) R value is up in the air, everything from R2 to R4 has been claimed.

Reverse minor bisecting scratch vertically? Doesn't look like a die crack.

Grade VF35 in my opinion. I'll wait for a Bust Half Nut to weigh in.

Almost EF and could get that grade if submitted to PCGS or NGC. Very solid for VF-35 anyway. There seem to be traces of luster near the rims.

There does seem to be a very faint vertical scratch on the reverse but I can't see that being flagged as a problem. Nice color and original surfaces.

CBH are my favorite US coin type. Wish I held onto my collection. I would give it a grade of VF-30, and I believe it's O-107 with the spike on the top of the left side of the shield.

I believe you have the Overton correct: O-106/R-2. (I hate to ever disagree with Echizento, but the reverse high 5 (of the 50) and the weak C convinced me).

Grade: VF-35

Also the two A filled on the Reverse.
