Well, since y'all tell me that first spouses won't be available at the bank, the logical next question is: When I look at the list of releases from the Mint, how is a newbie like me to know which coins will or will not be available at the bank, and which ones I need to order?

and the occasional Halve Dollar, though if you want large amounts you have to place an order with your bank. You can also find Susan B Anthonys, Sacs, and the occasional Ike

Why not just go to several banks and ask what they carry at the info desk if they have one? Some banks now will not even order any more of the baby sized dollars. They originally did and found so few want them and now they have way to many just sitting there.

I have had decent luck at my bank recently. I went in and asked if they had any half dollars, and I got about 25. Also, at the drive-up I asked for dollars, and the teller said "Do you want this?" It was an Ike dollar in uncirculated condition. So, you never know what might be there waiting for you.

I buy tons stuff at banks all the time . In last monlth I bought over 12 boxes of half dollars. I had to wait over 7 days for Loomis to sell them Banks. Banks dont stock them or want them. Its all special ordor with an 7 or 10 day wait time. I also bought one brick of 2003 two dollars bills at 2000 face. It was unopened and all brand new stuff printed in oct 2003. It sat in vault for serval years before I bought it.
The Bank I do my special ordors from makes me pay for them in advance before I get it. Reason nobody wants its or Bank dont want deal with it. Two dump banks I deal with refused my deposit of 2000 dollars worth 2 dollars bills and told me send to another bank . One Bank told me send back to bank I bought it from. I cant send back to bank I bought it from. I am stuck with 2000 dollars worth two dollar bills . I need turn it to half dollar boxs. Be warned it tough to dump two dollar bills or Half dollars or baby dollar coins. Other Coins are easy to rid of off in bank machices sometimes.
On special ordor lots banks dont want deal with it and they send me to another Banking center. All they want deal are Pennys, Nickels, Quarters, dimes, check cashing or whatever. You need to talk with personal bankers and not bank tellers on all special ordors I learned. The bank tellers will also say we dont have it or we cant ordor it. I dont talk with bank tellers anymore. I talk to Mangors or bankers at desk on buying stuff these days. I dont waste my time on bank tellers since they dont want deal with it.
On special ordors dont ever send to back to another Branch with same company. Dispose of it in another banking company for sure. Like I said its tough sometimes dealing all those special ordors I do .
One other thing my dump bank thats takes my half dollar coins hates it and they need to pay Loomis or Brinks fees to send back to feds or whatever since nobody wants them for sure. Some of my deposits of half dollars I did are collecting dust in Banks still there after talking with tellers. They cant send them back to feds since they onley have 300 or 50 bucks there. They need 1000 bucks totol to send back. Some will sit there for monlths or years before they are sent back to feds. Reason Feds will onley buy 1000 dollars per time on halfs or dollar coins. My half dollars are still at same bank after 6 monlths or so I learned after talking with tellers.
Its tough on buying and selling halfs, baby dollars, two dollar bills. Two good places I found of spending them with no problems are Post office, Court house for taxs or car tags. I can dispose of dollar coins or halfs , two dollar bills buying gas or small stuff under 20 bucks no problems anywhere it seems. Large amounts I send it to post office or court house or dump banks.
Its also tough on special ordors like I said banks dont want it. You cant just buy say 100 bucks worth Half dollars or two dollars bills. They make you buy an intire Brick of 2000 face on two dollars bills or intire 1000 dollar worth Half dollers or 1000 worth dollar coins per time. They dont want to get stuck with say like 900 dollars worth dollar coins in vault that cant send back to feds after selling 100 bucks out the box. Its hard since nobody wants its and they sit for years doing nothing.
Before you talk with your bank on buying any special ordors like I am talking about. You need to find another bank or other places to dispose of stuff you dont want with no problems for sure where you dont get stuck with an mess of coins or two dollar bills.
Its been tough for me and I had to open up 5 bank accounts with 5 banks to get what I need or want. Its cool and its free after I open an free checking account with bank.

I am sure you can get your money back for that brick of $2.00 note. Just list them in brick form for $2000.00 plus what ever the sale fee is. it will tell you at the end of listing what your fee will be on ebay! all the bidders that buy & trade note know that there will be conical number bills

chevrolet454ss: I think the reason your having a difficult time at banks is you over do the coin thing so much your getting a reputation of being a pest. You must realize banking people, like many organizations, have many people that know, work, talk to each other. They, like any group from one type of buisness, have one thing in common and that is their buisness. Your name probably comes up many times as being a coin nut. You will eventually get a reputation with numerous banks that will refuse doing buisness with you since they know you just continue to buy lots of coins and then return them and do it again and again and again. Try to remember that banks are not in buisness and do not make money to pay their employees, pay electric, water, gas, phone bills, building upkeep by continuosly playing around with bulk coin outputs and returns. Might be fun for you but not for the banks. If your in one area and do this in that area eventually you will not be allowed in the front door. Nothing personal but you do tend to brag how you do this constantly and in massive bulk volume. I have no problems getting coins and returning them at banks. I do not return them or purchase from the same places to often. I also am carefull not to do this during busy times so as not to annoy the banks personal.
