It would appear that the thieves knew exactly what to look for...

Perhaps the collection was hidden well but the person(s) who stole it/them knew where to look. It is possible that the thief was (is) someone who knows the collector.

Perhaps the owner just left it laying out while he went to work, or someone knew he had it.

Either way, the rule is : Keep it locked up, and keep your yap shut.

What a poor idea to keep $40,000 in gold in your home. This sort of collection easily fits in a $40 a year safety deposit box.

if I had $40k worth of gold in my home, I would be too scared to leave home nomatter how well hidden. my luck is such is that a fire would start 2 minutes I left the house or something. God is punishing me for my past mistakes and I don't blame him.

but that is because I am paranoid. just food for thought... just because you are paranoid does not mean that someone is not out to get you.
