Someone's gotta love 'em. Why not me? Pretty well circulated 1834 CBH of unknown (and likely indeterminable) Overton variety. Cheap, and mostly not too ugly, which is all you can really ask for when cheap is involved. Looks fairly original. Thoughts on a grade? Fair? AG3? The lofty heights of a G4? Oh well. It'll be safely at home with me soon instead of being reborn as a silver bar somewhere. I'll say Fair-2. Glad it is safe for the time being!

Quote: 1834 CBH of unknown (and likely indeterminable) Overton variety. I like a challenge so I took you up on this, and it wasn't as hard as you'd think (for this one anyway). #1- Its a large date/large letters marriage, which narrows it down to O101-103. #2- The banner on the reverse stops at the end of the "A" serif. Which eliminates O-102. #3- Placement of the "C" for cents in well under the olive branch, which means it HAS to be an O-101.

Tempted to say AG3 based on the overall condition (quite nice) given the level of wear. I agree the devices say 2.5 though.

FR-2. Nice save from the melt bucket. Junk silver in my neck of the woods is at 14.5x. I think this coin is worth more than its $7.25 in junk silver.

Fr 2. Glad you saved I own about 30 3 cent silvers that I paid between $5 and $7. When I go to the clinics for treatment I give them to nurses and volunteers that have children at home those 2 cent Half Cent and large cent. I buy them all under $10.00 just to give them away maybe a new collector is born each time. Your coin definitely has enough left and is a part of our history. Very cool
