Hey there, I have seen a few people talking about errors in 2016 coins...

I have rarely seen doubling and missing dots on nickels and dimes... have yet to have a quarter with an error.. or a loonie, but today I saw a toonie with a strange error, (would have photos but I did not have the cash on me to buy it from the till. The edge stamping seemed off center and caused raised portions on the obverse...

Is it just me or is the RCM letting things slip?

Save the two bucks the edge lettering was just applied too hard.

It appears to me the quality is going downhill as well. I'd guess that similar to any other mass-produced product in our disposable society of today, it's made as cheaply and quickly as technology will allow.

Winnipeg's high-speed circulation presses can produce 20 million coins each day. That's 750 coins per second!

If anyone has a picture of the 2016 toonie error described above, I'd be happy to see it. I surfed on google... without success.

Is it the same thing as what is shown in this other thread (''waffling'' 2015 toonie) : https://goccf.com/t/241590
?

One would guess it's the same problem, as long as the weight and diameter are in tolerance, it's a good coin by RCM

agreed the mint is more concern about making profit than to put out decent coins for the public
