I doubt the authenticity. The reverse doesn't look right.

OP coin: Coin from no-no site: Genuine coin: What I am noticing is a double rim on the first two and a lack of a double rim on the genuine coin.

Upon additional research, there are several genuine 1921 quarters that have the double rim due to a MAD. It might be genuine...

its a cast fake in all likelihood and I hope you haven't paid yet. I would run far from this and save your money for another day.
Also, add two and two with the location of the seller and their 35 rating which is comprised of $5 items.

I agree that it looks a bit off. However, yours looks better than the no-no site coin- just compare the shape of the 2. Overall, the coin has the appearance of a modern fake made to look old. I'd stay away. Still, if you've already paid, I wish the best of luck to you.

How should I go about this? Just not pay and that's it?

I thought everything looked to check out, as I examined it for at least a good 10 minutes and compared it to others. I guess it could be an older counterfeit, but I'm not sure. This is the second time in about 9 months I've seen a 1921 SLQ go up on ebay and who knows, maybe this is a guy who has an authentic one that somehow made its cross over to the UK when it was newer and still in decent condition. There's a tiny obverse rim ding and the reverse rim looks to check out by the fact that it has that dark black color like it's seen some circulation dirt. The head has me a bit more suspicious now, and I told the seller that I suspect it may be fake and to give me 24 hours to get some opinions and he was completely cool about it and accepting if I didn't pay him yet, or at all.

To be honest, I think you might have a genuine coin with a super sharp strike (FH, and full reverse feathers). I already knew that the coin was not struck from the same dies as the no-no site coin, but I included it for rim comparisson purposes. As I have stated, I have found genuine coins with the same rim anomalies, which was the result of a MAD. Color looks a little off, but it is believable. As for grade, I say EF-40/45, with 45 being the max as there is absolutely no luster. If submitted to a TPG and it is genuine, then I can see the TPG giving it an unrighteous AU-55. Edit: This doesn't mean I would have gone for it. I won't risk that kind of money without being 100% confident that it is genuine. I'm just giving the benefit of the doubt.

Think I'll be backed by ebay if I pay, receive coin, send it off and it checks out to be a fake? Or will it be too late? This guy is really nice, he's willing to weigh it in grams for me.

I'll wait for some more opinions, would love to see what T-Bop, Coinfrog, GR58, IGE, John and others think.

Drew, I know its a great deal but don't rely on ebay buyers protection. You're going to tie your money up and be very upset and in a disappointing scenario. The seller does not offer returns, the seller just arrived on ebay 60 days ago, the seller has never sold anything of real value. Weight means nothing, not sticking to a magnet means nothing. Not with how slick the Chinese have become at casting great fakes. The best question to ask him is why is he selling a $900 coin for $250? Because he's a nice guy and you're a good kid? I am not the end all opinion here, no one is, but go look at the counterfeits that are actively sold on the site we do not speak of and then REALLY get a good look at your seller's coin.

Agree looks like it could be a cast fake - very risky purchase IMHO

Great question... I didn't purchase it so I'm fine. If I do want to purchase it, I can contact the seller at anytime. He's really chill about it.
Still going to wait for more opinions & until he weighs it to determine what I should properly do.

From the images posted above that would be $1000 coin if genuine. All I can say from the information provided is that it is questionable, very questionable. Do not buy it off ebay.
