Sorry for the gap in the PIF contest. I won PIF#26. Sick kids, crazy work, and a diabetic dog (who knew a hound could get so expensive?) have made the last few weeks kind of crazy

Anyway - I see arthrene picked up PIF#27 so I figured I'd start something a little different that I've been thinking about for a while.

If anyone is familiar with Geocaching - its a game played with GPS units, where you go out and try to find a 'treasure' that someone else has hidden in the woods or a park. When you find it there is a box of knick-knacks and trinkets that you get to trade for. You take something from the box, then you leave something for the next person. The box usually has 10-15 different things in it that you can trade for.

The PIF contest is kind of like this and I thought it would be fun to mix the two. So here's my idea:

The first person to respond to this post, who has 50 quality posts, who has not won the "Pick Your Prize Pay It Forward" with in the last 15 times, will receive a package containing more than one fabulous prize (probably 3 or 4). You may choose one fabulous prize, then replace it with something of similar fabulousness, then you must hold the contest again and send the group of fabulous prizes to the next person. At any point, anyone can add an extra fabulous prize so that the next person will have even more fabulous prizes to choose from.

Here is one important rule - you have to trade for an item that is similar in fabulousness. You can't take out a silver half and replace it with a common date Lincoln Cent. You could take out a 1964 silver half and replace it with 2 1964 silver quarters, (but they must be kept together as one fabulous prize). Its really up to you to decide, but if all you have to trade is a sorta-fabulous item, then don't take a super-fabulous item, just take a sorta-fabulous item.

If this keeps going as well as the PIF has, I think it is okay for people to win more than once, because the prizes will be changing all the time. So, you can't enter if you've won with in the last 15 times, but after that, then you can enter again.

In summary:
1) Respond to the post (if you have 50 quality posts)
2) Receive a package of fabulous prizes
3) Pick a fabulous prize to keep for yourself
4) Add a similiarly fabulous prize to the package
5) Hold the contest again and send the fabulous prizes to the next person.

Sounds awesome!

But feel free to take a common date lincoln and replace it with a silver coin

think there should be a 50 posts limitation?

I dunno, even fifty posts sounds dodgy, what if the person actually takes all of the coins and never comes back on the forum again.. Maybe a little higher so that we know the real person?

While I'm at it if you win can you add several things to equal the value of what you take?

I think if you wanna take one out and add several to justify the value, it would be best to group those in one pack, so that the others can see... I reckon...... Wait a minute, theres a flaw in this system though, cause if you do that, eventually things start to pile up, and become very very expensive to ship..... Owh well, karrlot made the rules, so karrlot will have to figure this one out...

Yes but things can go the other way too I suppose. Replace a group of coins with a single coin of equal value and then we're back where we started again. I guess we really have no idea until we get this started.

So does insideout win this round?

Ok so Insideout never official said he wants to win, and I am saying I want to win so....Let put it up for a vote...

Just kidding. Insideout is definitely the winner. And since I just won level 1 & 2 I am thrilled that there is something new starting that I can participate in. The cool part of this idea is that you can win ever 16th person, so it turns into a never ending White Elephant hybrid gift giving contest.

I love the idea.

Thanks Karrlot
