Hello everyone.

I am not from America, but given that most members of this forum are and the fact that I like US coins, I decided to post this. I just thought it would be a fun challenge .

Basically I invite you all to help building a complete set of regular-issue business strike circulating US coins. (Please note extreme rarities such as 1933 $20 or 1870-S $3 are obviously going to be left out).

The Rules

- We will begin with 2017 and do it year by year in descending order. You cannot post a coin from 2016, for example, before we complete 2017.

- Only business strike coins, proofs are not part of this. (Thus 1913 LHNs, 1894-S Barber dimes or 1804 dollars are not part of this set).

- Commemorative and bullion coins are not part of this, only circulating types. Circulating-type coins such as the 1973 Eisenhower dollar which were only issued in Mint Sets can be posted in this thread. (Business strike Silver Ikes are also welcome).

- Do not post duplicate coins unless your example is really outstanding.

- If you post multiple coins, each coin must be shown individually in a close-up photo.

- For each year we will begin with the lowest denomination (cent for modern times, Half Cent for earlier years) and end with the highest denomination.

- Inside each denomination, the Philadelphia coin has to be posted first, then all the branch mint coins in alphabetical order.

- The coin you post must be yours, unless it's an extreme rarity (ex. 1933 double eagle)

- Varieties are not required, only date-mintmark combinations, however if you have some interesting variety feel free to post it. Major varieties, such as 1913 Buffalo nickels, 1917 SLQ, 1917 Walker (mintmark changes from obverse to reverse), 1909 Lincoln cents, 1982 Lincoln Cent composition change etc. etc. are however part of this. The order of posting then is the earlier variety first. Same goes for the different Presidential dollars, State Quarters etc. posted in the same year.
Example of order ( Buffalo nickel):
- 1913 Variety 1
- 1913D Variety 1
- 1913S Variety 1
- 1913 Variety 2
- 1913D Variety 2
- 1913S Variety 2

Already waiting for your coins .

Have fun .

EDIT: If you can't figure out which coin is the next to be posted, see here for years 2014 or earlier:

Big thanks to Tbone for providing us this link.

We were talking here about how much it would take to do Eliasberg today and the figure came to close to $100MM. I doubt we have close to those assets if we added up the net worth of the entire forum, but it will be interesting to see how close we can get.

One small problem with your rules. What happens when we get stuck? ie, nobody has one of the coins?

I think maybe you should pick a single type coin set at a time.

Well if we are stuck we wait a bit and if after several weeks no one shows up we will have to post a placeholder photo from some famous collection (we will have to find a royalty-free one) and continue. If we can't find such a photo then we will have to continue anyway so the thread doesn't freeze.

To everyone:

If I haven't been clear enough, you CAN post a lot of coins at once as long as you follow the rules of this thread.

Or the Presidential and Native American dollars, for that matter?

Perhaps you may want to add this link to the title post. It's a very well put together website that is a checklist of all US coins. It only goes through 2014 but I think we can manage figuring out all coins after that date.

https://www.uscoinlist.com/

One thing folks might find helpful is that they also include hyperlinks to the pages for NumisMedia, PCGS, and NGC for each coin.

Finally came across a 2017-D cent. Not sure I've seen any nickels, dimes or quarters yet.

Nice to see a collector of U. S. coins from across the pond - welcome DomenikWSP!

This will be quite the thread if it gains traction. I won't be able to contribute anything until we hit 1945.
