I can't believe I didn't remember this reading the thread a couple days ago, but I've won that game at Taco Bell before! I always thought it was a scam but I was really bored waiting for food one day. So I decide to give it a try. Decided to use a nickel (cuz I'm cheap like that lol) and followed the coin down and got it on the platform. The workers looked really surprised. Almost like no one had ever bothered to claim the prize before me. Kinda embarrassing but for free food, or free anything, I'm pretty shameless. I won I think a couple of tacos? Or a burrito or drink? I forgot. But the higher the denomination of coin, the bigger the prize. But I also remember that the lower the platform, the better the prize because the lower ones are more challenging or are smaller. One or the other. I have a bad memory.
Anyway, I believe the trick was to follow the coin with the platform on its way down. If you just try and position the platform and let the coin drop, its almost impossible. Light refractions from the curve of the plastic, erratic coin movement in the water as it sinks, etc.
And speaking of food spots, I'm from an area which has no lack of that genre of food. Virtually unlimited choices. And authentic is good. But sometimes, there is just that need for that "fake" taste that really hits the spot.
