How come so much?

If I was going to spend that kind of money it surely wouldn't be on that. Is it me?

Actually, the answer as to why someone would spend that much money is quite simple. It's human nature to try to connect/bond with others. Stories help others bond with one another. This person wanted to have a story in a few years that he could tell other collects that he spent close to $500 on something that is now worth $10.

That is crazy. What's the deal with the use of the term "first strike." I seem to remember reading somewhere that the mint doesn't exactly track which coins are first so this term is somewhat misleading? Does anyone have any information on this?

thats exactly what the mint said in their press release also, its nothing but a sales pitch. They said over half (and sometimes all) of the population of coins can be minted within that month that the TPG's are calling "First Strike" coins so none are any better than any other coin with a later date, so its just something the TPG's thought up to try and to create a market for one of their products. The bad part about it is even though the mint released this press release and its been in every publication about coins I can think of, it is still working

Now if we mint stage it would be worth it but being a proof it should be graded at PR-69-70

I thought FirstStrike only meant it was shipped within the first month of mintage, and yes some of the time over half if not all of the coins are minted in this time.

NO ONE can have this coin yet !?.........Ha Ha ...I guess that's why they call it a "First Strike" coin huh ? ...LoL\

John Quincy Adams should be the next one coming out........#6 President!

homiegrubbs........

of course.....my bad...........you're absolutely right!
In dealing with the "First Strike" matter......my brain (tired...long week!) was tryin' to come up with a "more" ridiculous thought to their "claims" !.....so yup....sure enough....the Jackson coin certainly has been out but.........still a baseless/illegitimate claim of "First Strike" though.
