Forgive me if I don't explain this correct but I am new to coin collecting so. I can make 188? On front, however on the back there's nothing there. It's not worn out nothing was ever printed. What kind of error is this?

Thank you for your response

GDN. It's going to be hard for anyone to give you a definitive answer without seeing the coin. Take some good pics and post here and the experts can let you know. Sounds interesting.

Thanks for the pictures. I think what you have is a very, very, very (did I say very?) worn liberty head nickel. The reverse may have had help at some time. PO-01 or not?

On a grading scale of 1-70 (with 70 being best/perfect), this is a 1 - Poor.

PO stands for Poor, the lowest grade for a Coin. Your nickel has seen so much circulation that almost all the design elements have disappeared.

It's done it's duty. There are collectors who actually diligently search for such coins.

Yes. Lots of people would love to have that coin if they are that special breed who chase down the 01s!

But typically the poor-1's they want have to be either certified by the major TPG's, or be able to be certified. If you can't read the date it isn't certifiable. His looks to me like an 189?. If you can't make out the last digit a lot of the demand disappears.

, but if you can get some good magnification and light on that old lady turning and moving the coin from side to side, maybe you can catch that last digit .
