Hi,
There are a few key die varieties for Canadian cents 53 and onward. Many are worth looking for, but every variety has its own diagnostics. If you do a search in the Canada section for 1953-55, 1965, and 1985 you'll find more information on each variety.

What are you suppose to look for in the 1953-55? I find it really strange that I found a 1965 pointed. Probably some idiot not knowing what he spent. What is the value of a 65 pointer.

Well...this is why I suggested going through the Canadian forum, because it's very detailed to describe these differences properly, and I've lost count of my efforts at it!

Some diagnostics for the 1965 pointed 5 (and large beads)

Here's a post that discusses the diagnostics for "no shoulder fold" cents of 1953-55. The rare one you want to look out for is the "no shoulder fold" of 1955.

I was checking out my 1965 and 1954 and sure enough they are both the rarer ones. I was thinking I aint this lucky because I only had one 1954 and 1 1965. Ive been researching on the coins to be sure and they deffinitely are. The 1954 is a NSF and the 1965 is a pointed 5. As soon as I get the camera working to where I can download pics ill be sure to put the pics of them in here.

"The 1954 is a NSF and the 1965 is a pointed 5."

Remember, that diagnostic for '65? Check the obverse for "large beads" too.
When you post pics, I can give you my opinion on these too.

Kurt, I don't know if you meant this also, but in the back of the book there is a section under "Varieties", that goes into more detail about the different errors, and varieties. It covers ecerything from MD, (which incidently, in Canada, does have a small premium), to just about everything that can happen in the mint.
