I think, nds76, may mean Canadian mintages?

That 2006-P mintage gets my attention! There's one to watch for at shows.

Yeah, I recently saw a roll of UNC 2006P cents go for $250!

I believe the 2006 Steel cents with the RCM MM, will also have the "P", which indicates steel core. I recently went thru several tubes of '2006' cents, and sorted out each "variety'. The 2006" did not make an appearance! Keep a magnet handy when sorting! If it grabs a coin, make sure it does NOT have the RCM LOGO as well, and then you may smile all the way to the bank! Dick

That 2006P cent mintage is crazy! I'm glad I accidentally bought a double of this date! May I bounce around a few questions for the experienced collectors? (1) How does the catalogue know how to distinguish the number of P marked cents from the CPS cents bearing the new RCM mint mark. The mint's annual report groups all CPS cents together. In other words, what is the authoritative source for the catalogue's figure? (My guess: a freedom of information request! ) (2) I assume the 200,000+ figure refers to circulation issues. How will the value of PL cents compare? (Before you automatically think they will be less valuable, look at the trends for 1991 PL sets!) Do very many collectors complain if they have own a PL copy of a circulation coin? I don't (for now). Any thoughts?

I got my figures from Pierre Charest's book, but I don't know where he gets them from. The mint doesn't list mintages by mintmark, so you pose a very good question.
1991 PL set is expensive due to the extreme shortage of quarters that year. Maybe the 2006P sets will be similarly priced one day. Hmmmmm....

My thoughts are that the amount is curiously close to a full run with that die, and when the mistake, (wrong planchet), was discovered, the die was not replaced, and used with the same thpe of planchets. That was "one that got away"! Dick

Topher, I am a little confused. In your list, it says 2006 no-P: only issued in proof. Now I am looking on ebay and I see a roll of 2006 No P Caribou quarters on there. If this is true, it would be incorrect to say No P was only issued in proof.

nds76 - if they are 2006 no-P quarters, then my source is either wrong, or not up-to-date. I know the most recent years are always questionable when it comes to mintage figures. I only listed the numbers as they appear in the 2008 Charest. I make no claims to their accuracy.

I am just going bonkers trying to build a complete set not knowing if there is or isn't certain coin. It's really frustrating. My Charlton is the 61st Edition and its all I have to rely on at this time and it doesn't cover all the 2006 coins, just a few of them.
