First post. I expect to be here more, due to my new hobby of metal detecting. I bought a metal detector today, went about a half mile into the woods near my home, where there's no trail or anything, and came across 3 coins that were about 5 or 6 inches into the ground.

No luck finding them on Google.

Found 2 of these: one side has two swords, the other side looks like a dragon.

Found 1 of these: one side looks like a shield, and the other is just lines.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I can't be of any help on either of those. Neither look like coins. The first looks more like a button, but there is no hasp, so it can't be a button.

Ill keep watching to see if anyone can help you with these.

Good luck with your hunting. Be careful, though, treasure hunting can be highly addictive.

Not every round flat piece of metal is a coin.

@Shane508, first welcome to CCF. Second, any chance you can post pics that are in focus a little better? I agree that they aren't likely coins, but rather tokens or something else.

Thanks people. And oriole, yeah, I should've specified that I'm not sure if this is a coin, especially since there's no visible denomination on it.

And yes, I'll try taking some better-focused pictures in a few minutes.

After getting a high quality photo, I now see that it looks to say "TD" on the bottom on both sides. I have spent a few hours researching and have found nothing; leading me to believe this is either extremely worthless, or extremely rare.

I did find a carwash token on Google that also has the same TD logo on it, so this is looking to be worthless, but still cool looking. As for the coin/token with the shield on it, I haven't figured out what that is yet.

TD almost certainly are the initials of the design artist and /or engraver.
