2017 was much about buying silver coins in my live :-) I expanded my collection trying new ways for acquiring coins.

Usually, I bought my silver coins from a local refinery. They offered me most coins for the silver price except bullion coins and coins with collector's value. Unfortunately, this place is very short on coins and probably goes out of business next year.

So, I started trying new things to get silver coins for a fair price. I sent a mail to a couple of online refineries and gold buyers and one answered me that they are willing to sell silver coins for the silver price plus 2.50% plus shipping.

I think that's not a bad deal. They don't use Paypal for that because of the fees. They only accept check.

What do you guys recommend me to do for finding out if they are reliable or not. Have you done kind of business before?

Thanks for helping!
Rest in Peace

The percentage they offer is very fair.

They could go out of business the day after your check was cashed.

BBB might be of minor help if they are members. Are they part of any guild or society?

Put no value into BBB ratings. http://business.time.com/2013/03/19...a-bad-grade/

You can offer to cover the PayPal fees for the transactions other than that you're going to be taking a risk and only you can decide if the risk is worth it.

DrEagle!

I buy silver coins, but as a collector so I am use to paying premiums.
Do you have a local coin shop around close to you?
Sometimes by the time you pay shipping charges a LCS will be in the same ball park as far as pricing goes.

Thanks for answering!

moxking: they are not a BBB member but I found 2 yelp reviews, 7 trustpilot reviews and only 1 or 2 google reviews. All positive but all reviews about buying and not about selling. I mean they don't have an online store...

Debrajc: yes but the coins there are let's say not very fair priced. For me it makes more sense to pay some money for shipping. I live kind of remote what is great as long as you don't want to buy coins :-)

basebal21: I know about that :-)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bette...iness_Bureau

In 2010 ABC's 20/20 reported in a segment titled "The Best Ratings Money Can Buy" about the irregularities in BBB ratings.[21] They reported that a man created two dummy companies which received A+ ratings as soon as he had paid the membership fee. They also reported that business owners were told that the only way to improve their rating was by paying the fee. In one case a C was turned to an A immediately after a payment and in another case a C-minus became an A+. The chef Wolfgang Puck said that some of his businesses receive F's because he refuses to pay a fee. Ritz Carlton, which does not belong either, also receives Fs for not responding to its complaints.

Does anyone know how APMEX can make money selling on ebay?!?! I mean I pay 10 percent plus ebay fees if I sell something. Probably they negotiated much better selling fees?

APMEX has way lower fees on ebay than casual sellers do. They're also a mint authorized distributor so they get a lot of their bullion supply for the current year without the middle man markup

Pennies on the dollar compared to everyone else. I'm pretty sure they're the ones that had the ebay labels a while ago on a few things. They don't have to sell to the public to make their money though, if ebay wasn't profitable for them they wouldn't be on it.

Do you guys ever compare APMEX versus other sites? They seem like they are always more expensive.
