I received two coins in the mail today which were purchased from an ebay seller. The packaging was a bit unusual. They came in a #10 envelope. Inside of the envelope was a folded sheet of paper. The two coins were rolling around loose inside the folded paper, but the seller also included two coin holders. He hadn't put the coins in the holders, but had sent them. Fortunately, the two coins, an 1891 and 1901 British Farthing, don't seem to have rubbed against each other much in the mail. Paul Bulgerin

Ouch, glad it worked out. You never know with ebay sellers. I once bought a used printer that arrived completely loose, with no packing, in a box that was three times too big for it. The printer was damaged, of course, and I had to open a case against the guy to get my money back. You're not alone!

Uh, okay. Perhaps the seller just forgot what they were doing.

Interesting. The seller must have really not been thinking when he/she shipped those.

I would definitely put that in his feedback. It will likely push him to make sure the next thing he sells is packaged properly. I have seen where they leave the 2x2s loose, just incase folks dont like them. I haven't seen it like this with the coins rolling around, though.

people who don't know coins come up with some strange shipping methods. When I was still buying on ebay fairly regularly, I once got a loose Morgan wrapped in at least half a roll of toilet paper.

Perhaps, the seller has a helper -- a not-very-good, passive-aggressive, resentful helper.

I had a seller send me a coin loose in a regular envelope but the coin was taped on a sheet of paper...tape over the coin directly, no holder.

I once got a pair of 2 Cent Pieces taped to a piece of cardboard (cut from a cereal box) inside a regular envelope from an ebay seller. to say I was shocked is an understatement.
