I'm not sure what you mean but I collect the Eagles in NGC slab and raw mint sleeves. Particularly fond of the Red Label First Strikes. I have most of the mint issues in MS69 and about a third in MS70. Some of the First Strikes are a little pricy though. I only have a few proofs. Hope that is what you were looking for. nlp

I collect silver eagles as well. I have a mixture of coins from bullion dealers, as well as some with mint marks. I really like the design. Good luck with your collection!

EDIT: Check this thread for more information....

I started collecting the proof ASE since 2004. The only ones I have are 2004 onward. I also started collecting the Burnished ASE.

One of my favorite coins. I have all the bullion coins in a Dansco album. I also have an air-tite album with all the Proofs (minus 1993, 94 and 96) and all the burnished ones including the 2008/2007 reverse.

Beautiful coins!

American Eagle Proof- sold directly by the Mint, minted for collectors, currently carries the West Point mint mark
American Eagle Uncirculated- debuted in 2006, sold directly by the Mint, minted for collectors with burnished blanks, carries the West Point mint mark
American Eagle Bullion- sold only through a secondary network of dealers, minted for the purpose of precious metals investment, minted at West Point but no mint mark

I buy from the US Mint both Bu's and proofs, 3 to 4 of each. I give each coin my personal grade. In time I may submit the best to a grading service.

The purchase is for my kids; I also buy from the mint proof sets I have one set for each from birth year to date.

The BU ASEs only got mint marks during a few years.
MOST are without mint mark, and were ONLY available from
bullion dealers. Does this make them any less collectible?
NO.
I dislike proof coins. I collect mostly BU when buying modern
coins. And most BU ASEs are bullion coins.

Sorry, but if you only collect the BUs with mint marks,
your collection will be VERY small and INCOMPLETE.

Are the burnished ASE's any more valuable than the regular variety?

Also, how do you detect the difference in the error of 2008 w/2007 back? haven't seen the 08 yet so don't know what is different, something about the "U"?
