So I was looking through my Ikes and found out that I only had 26 out of the 32 that were issued.

ten of the silver Ikes- five uncirculated (1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1976) and five Proofs (1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1976);

six Copper/Nickel proofs (1973, 1974, 1976 type 1 & type 2, 1977 and 1978)

all the P and D mintmarked coins from 1971 to 1978 (a total of sixteen coins).

Totaling to 32. Can someone please help me identify the ones I'm missing. My problem is that I cant tell between a "uncirculated silver ike" and a "proof"

Here are the scans of what I have. They are in order with the P&D in the start followed by clad proofs and then the 10 silver ones.

Cant give you no help I haven't collected Ikes but would like to some day. Just wanted to comment about the ones you do have. Very nice collection so far and I hate holes your set is only missing 6 but it looks so empty. I also use flips & pages.

Seeking: UNC / proofs hard to differ

Looks to me like you're missing the 1972S proof, 1973D, 1973S silver proof, 1974S silver proof, and 1976 clad proof types I and II.

The fields of the proofs will have a mirror finish, the uncirculated coins won't. Compare your two 1971S pieces with each other.

The 1971-1974 unc Ikes were packaged in a pliofilm packet which also contained a blue plastic medallion, the proofs were packaged in a hard plastic holder the size of proof set holders of the time, placed in a red velvet-textured tray then enclosed in a brown wood grain finish cardboard box and sleeve. But that's not much help when the coins are in 2x2's.

Incidentally there is only one type for the 1976S silver coins.

There are also three varieties of 1972 Ike, type 1, 2 and 3. Check here for how to differentiate them:

I have a different list of missing dates than BobK. The 1974S Silver Proof is there (last page, bottom row), but what is not there is the 1976S 40% Silver Unc.

Here is a list (not including the three 1972 varieties, since we would need to see the reverse to distinguish which of the three you have).

The ones you need are in BOLD:

1971
1971D
1971S 40% Silver Unc.
1971S 40% Silver Proof
1972
1972D
1972S 40% Silver Unc.
1972S 40% Silver Proof
1973
1973D
1973S CLAD Proof
1973S 40% Silver Unc.
1973S 40% Silver Proof
1974
1974D
1974S CLAD Proof
1974S 40% Silver Unc.
1974S 40% Silver Proof
1976 Variety 1
1976 Variety 2
1976D Variety 1
1976D Variety 2
1976S Variety 1 Proof
1976S Variety 2 Proof
1976S 40% Silver Unc.
1976S 40% Silver Proof
1977
1977D
1977S Proof
1978
1978D
1978S Proof

No problem. I had to look a the pictures a few times to make sure myself! I used my list I have in a spreadsheet and checked them off as I saw them.

I meant to add in my reply that the rest of your post was spot on! Much more descriptive than I would have written!
