So I am going through about $1000 in Kennedy half dollars each week now and I have a few questions...

I am pulling any 1970 and older and strictly keeping them for the silver content as anyone would...
Also I am pulling any 2001+ because they had to come from Mint Sets...

But in my last thousand I found 3-4 that are between 1971 and 2000 that are absolutely stunning and look like they came from the press yesterday... I am hanging on to these with the ambition of either selling them at a very small premium ($1.50ish) or using them for trade for lincoln cents I am collecting... What are your thoughts on this? I am not going to list them as BU because I dont beleive any coin that comes from circ is BU... but these are in very very very good condition and I'm not looking to turn a profit as much as I am looking to use these to fill gaps in other peoples collections and help fill my own collections by trading them off...

Does what I plan to do with them sound reasonable? OR should I toss them back in the mix because they arent worth any more than face?

I can post pictures by request...

what do would you expect I could get in trade for these for example if I am filling my Lincoln Memorial cent set... maybe 1 of these for a proof Lincoln Cent? or 2-3 BU cents for one of these?... I dunno I dont know what a (im guessing here) XF Kennedy half usually is valued at...

Some of the clad halfs are worth up to about $5 in unc. The '86-P, D and '91-D are the highest but there are several more with substantial premiums.

You can indeed get BU coins in change. BU is a grade not a condition. Unc simply means that the luster hasn't worn off the high points yet. It takes an average of about 8 transactions to wear off this luster so if you get it in time it can even be gem. Once the luster is broken they are called sliders and none of the regular issue clad Kennedys have a premium in this condition.

Gems can be worth up to about $25.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.
