Hi. I got this money clip from family years ago and never knew what the coin is that they put into it. Any help? Note: I had to crop the image to fit but I’ll do my best to upload a better picture

It's easier if the picture is in this forum, so I copied your coin below. (if that's ok)

As for the authenticity, it probably is a copy since I don't think Mayan had any metal coins. But I'm sure the experts will comment below.

@michael8720, first welcome to CCF. Second, I don't think that the round piece in the middle of this money clip is ancient nor is a coin. There have been several threads here on CCF about similar pieces, and the conclusion in each case was that the piece was made for the tourist trade. I'm thinking that this is what you have as well.

By the way, the Mayan's did in fact have a metal-based currency as you can read about here:

There were no coins in the new world until the Europeans arrived. The centre part of the clip resembles the Aztec sun or calendar stone.
