Remember, die doubling will normally increase the size of the letters/numbers, but when you are considering incuse devices, the opposite is true. The closeups you posted show some enlargement of the numbers and that indicates slight MD on this coin. I hope that helps. When you look too close, you are looking too hard for what is collectable. It a variety is not there, then move on to the next coin. But on the ATB Quarters you need to look at the center devices for doubled dies. That is where you will find doubled die on them. The outside ring devices have Machine Doubling on them 70% of the time. (incuse devices that are enlarged) They are not doubled dies. Report this Post to the Staff
