Hey Guys, Near Date or Far Date are really a close call. Hope this is a Near Date.

Not a Near Date. It's a Far Date which is completely normal for that year.

Easiest way is to match it with an 80, 81 or 99.

Hwy14 the original picture on your last post that I pointed out was a "Wide Rim Near Date 79P" was pictured on the lower Right corner. http://goccf.com/t/316340

Also, a wide rim near date the 1979 in almost touching the wide rim at the bottom of the 1 9 7 9

Just a nice picture to show any blemishes of the cheek, etc. obverse and reverse eagle will do. to grade it and check the rims for any nicks, etc.

Here is a normal one and the near date (wide rim).

Only found on the 1979-P Dollars. The other years are all near dates, (wide rims)

The wide rim doesn't make the 1 look closer, it IS closer. I have seen 1979 near date SBA's with slightly misaligned dies that have rims narrower than 1979 far dates. Wide and narrow rim's have nothing to do with it, the date is actually closer to the rim on the near dates. Easiest way for me to tell is to look at the distance between the bottom of the 1 in the rim on the near date it's about half the width of the upright of the 1, on the far date it's further away than the width of the upright of 1.
