Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 04/16/2018 08:38 am The wide rim doesn't make the 1 look closer, it IS closer. I have seen 1979 near date SBA's with slightly misaligned dies that have rims narrower than 1979 far dates. Wide and narrow rim's have nothing to do with it, the date is actually closer to the rim on the near dates. Easiest way for me to tell is to look at the distance between the bottom of the 1 in the rim on the near date it's about half the width of the upright of the 1, on the far date it's further away than the width of the upright of 1.
