I'm new to coin collecting (only have been collecting for 2 years), and I have a few questions. I love hunting rolls, preferably cents. Is it worth it to pull copper cents out? I have about 25 pounds worth right now. Also, is it worth looking through quarter and dime rolls for silver?
Rest in Peace

A lot of comments going around about saving all 95% copper pennies . I see that copper prices have risen a little in the last few months .But to me it's still not worth saving them , still illegal to melt .
As far as CRH for 90% silver , guys are finding them a little hard to find these days . IMHO not worth the time to search a box to find one or two pieces .

Do what makes you happy. If you search 100 boxes of Dimes or Quarters and find a silver in each box 'maybe" everyone will say good job keep hunting. Search 100 boxes and get no silver people say "why waste your time". You go back to the bank and dump your not out anything but probably time and some gas.

I got up to about 80 pounds of copper before I dumped it. Prices were high enough a few years ago that some people made a profit on pulling the copper cents; now the potential profit isn't big enough and nobody will touch them.

I had decent luck with War Nickels; I did a few boxes each of dimes and quarters, and found no silver in either. CRH is fine if you enjoy the hunt, but if you are looking for a side hustle, there are better options.

I don't think its a waste of time, Copper Cents are getting harder and harder to get in quantities from boxes, its still hit and miss every box I get there are several rolls that only have 1 or 2 copper cents in them. I have a couple hundred pounds of copper cents and there are individuals who still purchase copper cents by the pound on ebay!

Sort of depends on how much room you have to use for just a pile of Copper.

So far in U.S. history, every time a coin has been debased the previous standard increases in value. I well remember 1965 having fellow collectors compete to see who could find the most "sandwich" quarters ... they didn't want advice from a 10 year old (me) who suggested that whatever the government wants back, i.e. silver, keep ...

And, how strong the floors are where you plan to store them.

I have been quarter roll hunting since January and have not found any silver.
But I did fill 3 state maps 1 ATB up to 2017 and two sets of very nice 1965 through 1998
I did find a 1961 quarter in a coinstar reject bin.

The Fun is in the Hunt.
