Australian 50c Captain Cook - Golden Colour Reverse?

sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 05/09/2018 03:18 am I occasionally come across mid to high MS copper nickel coins with a (sometimes) deep golden tone. I think that it must exposure to the right environmental chemistry, beyond more detail than that, I don't know. I don't think that it is mild exposure to heat. Report this Post to the Staff

For instance If the reverse is exposed to high sulfur, ie left on a yellow envelope and with enough heat, it can result in an interesting tone. PVC contamination could cause the golden tone but that would presumably be both sides. Maybe it sat someplace like a desk for a long time with the reverse being exposed to direct sunlight?
