Hello,
I am not very familiar with mint errors and came across this 1866 Indian Head cent with what looks like a lamination peel or error of sort? It looks like the last 6 is struck through and not covered but like I said I'm not an expert by any means. Any help on this would be appreciated and if there is any type of name for it would be great too, as I cannot find any info about this type.

Looks like pre strike damage to the planchet, by the way the date was struck through it

Onedollarbillnut - Thanks for your help, pre-strike planchet damage makes a lot of sense especially since the date was struck through it. Glad I was in the ballpark, much appreciated!
