Bobby, just a simple question, why isn't there any "tagging" on CCF? Ya know, like when you want someone to notice a topic or response ya just go "@bobby" and you are alerted that sombodey would like/need/want your attention or information to a topic that you may have experience with and can add to it?

Just wondering.

Right now I can't do that.

That's okay, no rush. We can wait.

Sorry to necro this thread, but was this ever implemented in any way? Tried to use the "@" sign, but doesn't seem to do anything.

It has not been implemented yet.

It's better that way. You can always alert someone via PM.

Except I can't. New members are not allowed to do that. So if there is someone on the forum who is an expert in something you are asking about, as a new member (one who needs access to the knowledge most, presumably), you cannot tag or message that person to ask them to take a look at the thread. Rather unfortunate if you ask me.

When you own your own forum, feel free to run it as you see fit.

If members want to be contacted for topics, they can subscribe.

I've run forums for almost 20 years, I will NEVER allow new members to contact any random member they want. It would be a spamming NIGHTMARE. As it is we get over 100 spammers attempting to register every single day. I have to subscribe to a HUGE database API to block them and some still get through.
