I found this 1988 D penny I'm new to the coin collecting but the D mint mark is thicker than normal and in the word "TRUST" theres a D stamped by the S

To CCF! What you have here is just a damaged coin. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint) Your coin shows Zinc Rot, from the Copper plating breaking, causing the Zinc core to get exposed. It also shows a stain as well from being in the environment (Environmental Damage).

@dtp, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks like the copper plating Near the letter S may have a couple small holes in it. That allows the zinc core to begin to deteriorate and sometimes causes oddly shaped bulges or bumps. Your pic isn't clear enough for me to say whether the same is true for the mintmark, but it seems likely.

Don't bother with the close ups but please post the reverse in the same quality as your obverse photo.
