I suggest that in tutorials, it should be mentioned that coins need to be removed from whatever holder it is in when possible before taking photos. John1

It's a good idea for better photos John1, but getting members to do it might be a challenge. It is hard enough getting them to crop and rotate their pictures let alone removing them from the holder.

True enough. I think the rotating thing is a smart phone problem. It seems that most of the time a mis- rotated photo is from a members smart phone. John1

I do agree with you John to a point, in my case I had all my coins in 2x2's and in albums before I figured out how to take photos. Now I'm playing catch with my photos (more coming this winter) when you take 40 to 80 pics a day I don't want too take the time to take them out of the 2x2 and then have to put them back in. Now any new coin I get it does get photo'd before it goes in a 2x2. I also agree with you that pics should be rotated and cropped before being posted. Turning the screen sideways is a pain.

WADR,it only takes a few minutes to remove the staples, and you will get much better photos of your coins for your own use as well as posting any here on CCF. John1

John1- I agree that the rotation problem has gotten worse since more people are using smartphones now, but can they not use the Image Optimizer for cropping and rotating, thats what it's for. I think that most of them don't even bother reading or dont care to read the tutorials on picture posting.

Every single smartphone I've ever had has built in editing software to do this in seconds. I can do it on my android in like 10 seconds.

But the problem seems to be that members just don't want to rotate or crop pics, for some reason. It takes just a few seconds, but helps us out a lot on the forums so we don't have to stretch our neck to look at the pics. Thankfully, my computer monitor actually rotates, so that can help sometimes.

I do everything from my phone and actually have a couple apps (used to be more) for photo editing. I still do use the Optimizer for decreasing file size. Quote: But the problem seems to be that members just don't want to rotate or crop pics, for some reason. I think you meant they're lazy. Sometimes, and I feel a little bad for it, I download newbies' pics and fix it for them. But, it doesn't take long at all.
