I was just wondering if there is anything special about the 1963 series dollar bills, besides the fact that it's old.

A lot of them are "mules" in the they were printed with some of the same back plates that were used on the 1957-B silver certificates.

Other than that, not real exciting for the most part.

Obviously you are looking at 1963 from a different viewpoint than I.

The 1963 issue is the oldest of the $1 FRN's.
Unless it's CU (Crisp Uncirculated) or has one of the features mentioned above you might as well spend it.

On average the series 1963 FRN are quite common. According to the Friedberg-paper money values, the average for a standard, non-star note in EF condition is about $2-3. They make nice gift for young relatives... :-)
