Just got this one in today and it's far better than I thought. Bought it sight unseen as a "1964 LMC doublestruck AU" (no additional details) for five bucks. I personally believe this is a triple strike rotated in collar a little and then a lot. Most all the action is on the obverse here. Comments very, very welcome as I am not entirely sure about a third strike. 1964 Lincoln Memorial cent Double (or Triple) Struck rotated in collar I see three LIBERTY's And the close double strike looks good here although the lighting was awful to show the details

I believe it's Double Struck, but I'll contact Mike Diamond for this one. Nice purchase by the way tropicalbats! I just emailed Mike Diamond now. We'll see what he has to say.

This is one of many 1964 cents that feature a genuine first strike and then one or more fake second strikes delivered by a counterfeit obverse die. The soft, blended overlap between primary (genuine) design elements and secondary (counterfeit) design elements is characteristic of these crude counterfeit strikes.

Wow, hadn't expected that, but thanks Mike! I did a quick search and found this type of fake listed on Lincoln Cents Online and their image of a fake 1964 is pretty darn similar to my new fake 1964. Nice I didn't pay too much for it, but as I do collect fake coins this will get correctly labeled and put in there with the 1909-S VDB glued on S and all the rest. Neat-O fake and I bet these have fooled a lot of folks into parting with serious money.

Quite true. Although rotated, one-sided double strikes do exist, they are quite rare among business strikes.

Now that you mentioned that, I remember one I've got images of somewhere.

Yes, they're more common in proofs which, as you know, receive two or more strikes as a matter of course.

I was wondering if you would consider selling your fake 1964 cent?

Sorry, but it is part of my counterfeit collection and not for sale. However, I do see these now and again on ebay now that I know what they are, although usually listed as a real double strike and thus even though fake they probably go for more than you'd want to pay for one.

I might be a little late but welcome back. Five bucks to add a coin to your collection isn't bad but it would have been better if it had been real.

Thanks! Still scratching a few insect bites but overall survived fairly well unscathed. Buried in Lincolns right now as one of my suppliers got in over 20,000 in the last two weeks. I'll start posting things again soon enough but just have to get through a few thousand more of them first to reduce the copper mountain in my office. The one bag looks to just be 5000 1958-P B/U from a mint bag so nothing to do with those but sell them off and they'll go away, but the others are a huge mix of everything and need time to sort out.

Wow TB, well as long as you're alive and having fun sounds good. But 20K is a lot of cents...

20K is a bunch, and will take me close to two weeks to finish up. By which time there will be all kinds of other stuff gathering in the corners needing attention. But so far it's been pretty quick work with just a couple finds. 1936 DDO-002 in VF, 1956 RPM-001 in AU and as always a couple of Retained Cuds. Nothing earth shattering.
