I found this in a customer wrapped roll of Pennies. I was wondering if this is PSD or not? I am going to need some help.

Interesting coin @E&V. I see only minor corresponding rim damage on the rev. Is it enough to conclude that the obv is just damaged? I'm not sure. We don't really know if that area of the rev isn't fully struck up because of the lack of design elements there. I guess that without certainty, I would just assume PMD, but I'm interested to hear what others think.

I feel it is a thinned planchet. Note the side view on that area. If it were damaged, there would be metal scratches on the obverse, but I'm just seeing a lack of metal on the top (OBV) and weakness on the reverse rim at 6:00.

Thank you Spence and Coop for your input! I appreciate it! My first thought was it being a thinned planchet as well. There is some weakness on the reverse side as well.

I have PMed Mike Diamond, so he can look at it.

It may be, but if so it is so slight that it would not have a premium value. The weakness is very slight and the weight is just a little out of tolerance.

Thank you for the input Conder101! I'll keep it anyways, since it would be my first one that I found.

I'm a bit conflicted about this one. The surface texture of the unstruck crescent on the obverse looks genuine. However, the lack of weakness on the opposite face is puzzling. On balance, I'd say it's a genuine (if minor) tapered planchet error.

Thank you very much for your input and time Mike. I appreciate it! I'll put in a non PVC 2x2 flip and label it. It will still go into my collection.
