Okay, I splurged on this one. It was just too cool to pass up.

This is an "5-10" bond issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1872. What is a 5-10 bond, you ask? I believe this is similar to the federal "5-20" bonds, which refers to the terms of this bond. The bond was payable from 5 to 10 years, at the discretion of the state. But the most attractive features are the six beautiful ABNCo vignettes, including two Civil War battle scenes.

Does it say anything on about an expiration date? Given that is guaranteed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, who knows? Take it to Harrisburg. Can you imagine the interest?

Hmmm, it's not cancelled, is it? I hadn't noticed that. However, this isn't a bearer bond -- only the named owner could cash it in, and I'm not the Commonwealth Sinking Fund. &

That is a really neat piece. I think any paper collector would be excited to add this to their collection!
