Cherrypicked this one off eBay recently. Seems like the people I was bidding against knew it was the variety as well as it ended at around $14. I've been trying to cherrypick this one for a while with no luck, until now. Not in the best condition, but I think it was worth the price.

I have been looking for one of those as well, but I missed that one. Nice pull, congrats.

These drive me crazy. Quite hard to find but can vary in price wildly. I thought the one I just sold, fully attributed and all, was a solid VF and still only got $16 at auction.

Tanman, yours is a good one and nice pick. I had a low bid in on it in case no one saw it but you are correct that there was at least one other person who saw it as it went for more than a regular old 09 would. But still went low for that DDO.

TB, when I sell Lincoln varieties on eBay I always list in both the US Errors and the Lincoln Cent categories. I have been looking to cherrypick one of these in the LC category and never even saw your coin, it would have been worth it to buy yours already attributed at that final hammer price.

I looked last night but I could not find the completed auction for the OP's coin, would anyone care to share a link? Sometimes I can learn additional PUPs from another's successful pick.

Thanks, Sean

Thanks, Tanman, I had a feeling I knew the seller. He has been selling a hoard of 1909 cents, most with little problems and obviously unsearched. Over the past month I cherrypicked three 1909-VDB cents with rim clips from his auctions. I am sure I looked at that coin and never caught the DDO.

Let make it easier. I'll post images of what to look for on the doubled dies that year on the DDO-001 and 002:
DDO-001:

001, normal and 002 date area:

DDO-002:

The third one was graded as the DDO-002, but it is not. They probably graded the coin by the die chips in LIBERTY. So there is an imposter out there that is not the DDO-002. Look for the Zero in the date to spot the real deal. SE area of the loop. Save the image and start your own educational image files with a right click on your mouse.

Some have asked about my images I use and I'm glad to say, you can now you can see the DVD in sections on youtube:
