I have noticed a lot of JOP counterstamped dollars listed in auctions with the major auction houses recently. It got me wondering, I would think that the counterstamp itself would be easy for someone in China to counterfeit...then they just put the stamp on a bunch of otherwise common dollars and end up with a decent profit. Am I being too cynical or are there hard to counterfeit markers for the JOP counterstamp?

As the value goes up I am sure anyone can counterstamp any coin.

Really just wondering out loud at this point...also a bit worried. One of my favourite coins is the Anguilla Liberty Dollar and I can see that one being the target of counterfeiters as well as demand goes up.

There is a dealer counterstamping the 67 dollar at recent sales going for over 300 bucks, I guess newbies are mislead into believing these are RCM products, the RCM should get off their horses and protect their copyrights

In my opinion, I think quite a few are fake, but it's difficult to tell because even original 'JOB' dollars have slightly different stamps.

I guess it depends if the market deems them 'acceptable'.

Kind of like when artificial toning is done by a real pro, it's 'market acceptable'.
