I managed to find this at a local internet auction near Dallas. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

I think that's a very nice EF, maybe AU.

The A in REGINA is re-punched. That is a marker for Haxby obverse 54. There are also die cracks at the R of VICTORIA and between the E and G of REGINA.

If you are not familiar with Dr. Haxby's website catalog of the 1859 narrow 9's, you might enjoy checking it out. Here is a link.

My apologies. I believe photo #1 is actually a shot of my 1893. Here is an actual shot of the 59.

The full side photos are actually better for grading and attributing varieties and your photos are pretty good.

It appears to me this is a wide 9 , but I don't have the experience to know for sure. I paid $9 for it, good deal?

It's a narrow 9. In that grade, I think it was a good deal at $9.

Thank you Phil310. I finally figured out how use the Haxby site. Your information helped tremendously. I have found it to be a Haxby PC59-543. The die crack has not yet progressed into Victoria's nose area, so I assume it was printed earlier than the coin appearing on hi site.
Thank you very much! It is pretty fun.

Yes mtracy14, good job on attributing your coin! It is an earlier die state which accounts for the lighter die crack.

Bill might be right.
