Hi everybody, I'm looking to buy this banknote, but I want your opinion on the grading as in this serie, price change a lot from even 5 points. I think the grade given on the note is quite good but I want some other eyes on it!

Thank you!

I'm not a fan of this one at VF20 probably closer to F15 in my opinion.
I guess it depends on the price but I've seen better looking VF20.

Cheers, Bill

I find the images posted impossible to discern what condition the note is in (so I cannot make a fair comment). I think that's why you're getting so little feedback. "Hounddog" is probably turned off by the large edge knicks/(stains? soiling?) on the top border (right border). The design looks fairly intact from I can see. French 1935 Twenties are a tough one to find in any condition.

Yes, it appears to be a fair VF20 to me. The design is intact & back shows nice colour.
It has issues (soiling/edge nicks) that aren't noted on the back of the TPG holder (which would typically be listed today on PMG & on a BCS holder).

Nice note!. It is on my list of note to buy as well. I think notes from this series will always be desirable especially the french versions. If you stay close to BV, your investment should be safe. The only thing I can suggest is to pay less than BV of VF20 on this note because it is missing the EPQ grade which any collector or investor will be looking for when buying a note.

Paper money is particularly difficult to evaluate from photos, but overall, I'd say this is graded correctly.

BTW, is this Sergio Momesso the ex HAB? Know broadcaster for the HABS?

I have been following prices of this series for almost two years now.

I have only seen one french $20 in VF25 which sold in may 2018 for $3960.00 before tax. Hope this helps.

Something else to consider regarding the grading of the banknote is the difference between US and Canadian grading companies. PMG and PCGS are more liberal in their grading than Canadian BCS which is more conservative or more strict.

In this case, I believe BCS would grade it as Fine 15.

Ok Sergio, I was asking because my family comes from the same part of Montreal as the Momesso family. Good Luck and enjoy the purchase.

BCS maybe stricture grader then PMG or PCGS, but I know a lot of collectors that won't touch anything but PMG and PCGS. Which means to me, that until that stigma is lifted. I will continue to think investing in a PMG or PCGS certificate holds your investments liquidity value.

yeah, BCS is very reliable, PMG might be little wrong sometime but as we say, buy the NOTE not the holder :D
