Came across this in change the other day, looks geniune but need ideas an thoughts from others?

Wouldnt be a copper coin and zinc coated would it ? Or has something happened to it somewhere weather somehow with a natural reaction or by man?

Hi Tui1990 and

This looks like environmental damage to me. I remember finding a late George VI English florin (same metallic composition as an Australian 50c) on a beach with my metal detector and it was dark brown all over. After a scrub with a wire brush to get it 'spendable' it looked rather like your 50c - and the edge remained dark brown.

Aussie 5c - 50c cupro nickel coins that have been underwater for a long time usually look like that one, and also if they've been given an acid bath.

PMD (Post Mint Damage) either way.
A friend is a present you give to yourself.
