The only safe way I know of for both the slab cracker and crackie is to put the slab in a vice firmly with the edge corner of the top sticking out. Then cut along the seam for about half an inch, stick a flat head screw driver into the cut and twist. Then remove from vice and pry open with screw driver and smooth pliers.
